Rescan Linux disks to add new one

Adding a disk in to a vmware image is simple, you go through the vmware wizard and hey presto you have an extra disk, trying to get the guest to recognise it with out a reboot ?????

It prestty simple, I have found out.  This has nothing to so with me, I am not this clever but a simple command

echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host#/scan

host# can be found using

ls /sys/class/scsi_host

The full instructions can be found here

You can now mount the disk in the usual way, the instructions for this can be found in this blog.
